Are you at your wits end with your child/children and wish they came with an Owner’s Manual? Have you turned into the No-No Monster, chasing your kids around the house yelling “No!” and feeling as if you are always telling them what not to do? Do you find yourself counting to 3 with nothing happening? You may feel like you’re constantly telling your children to do the same thing over and over again. Homework and learning may be a daily struggle. Would you like to take control and restore peace within the home by eliminating problem behaviors like arguing, fighting and tantrums? Less conflict and more cooperation may be what you are seeking for the entire family. I can work with your family to help reduce these and many more problem behaviors your child may be demonstrating.
Some of these include:
Academic tutoring services are appropriate for a wide range of individuals:
Individualized one-on-one tutoring sessions provide the learner with many opportunities to encounter information, respond, and practice new skills correctly. The fast-paced use of Discrete Trial Training (DTT), Errorless Teaching, Natural Environment Teaching (NET) and other teaching strategies, though intense and demanding, result in the child learning quickly while having fun.
Subjects of focus may include:
Many children and adolescents encounter challenges when learning, have problem behaviors that interfere with learning, or seem to lack the motivation to learn all together. Using empirically validated (proven by research/data driven) teaching methods, even the most difficult situations can be improved by creating an environment where the learner experiences success.
Some of the skills that may be addressed include, but are not limited to, the following:
Treatment is tailored to your child’s needs based on an initial assessment (e.g. ABLLS-R, VB-MAPP, or Functional Assessments of problem behaviors) and continual evaluations of progress will occur in order to determine future goals.
Your child may require treatment in some or all of the following areas:
Many parents are faced with the decision to enlist the help of a Behavior Analyst as their children grow and concerns become apparent. Learning the strategies of ABA is highly beneficial for parents-to-be, as well as those who are currently presented with a concern. Whether you are a parent-to-be, a new parent, or a parent who has children and need help NOW, the fact is that your child will be or is already learning from you on a daily basis.
You can learn to effectively teach your children and achieve the desired behavioral results using proactive techniques that will be applicable for a lifetime.
How you choose to “parent” encompasses not just behavior but also the morals, values, likes, dislikes, etc. that you will pass on to your children. This is your domain, not mine. I will collaborate with your family by sharing and coaching you in evidence based techniques to increase the desirable behaviors and decrease or eliminate the undesirable behaviors. Together we will determine the appropriate course and I will assist you in meeting your goals. It is always client specific and client driven. If you are willing to become an active participant in altering your families’ behavior, then you are ready to work with a BCBA.
